Titans’ Pitcher Luke Adams commits to Genesee Community College Cougars in Batavia, New York
When Titans’ 17U Head Coach and Director of College Placement Denis Bailey accepted a coaching position with the NJCAA D3 Genesee Community College Cougars in 2024, it was expected that a few Titans per year would make the trek down the QEW to Batavia, New York to play for Head Coach Skip Sherman’s squad.
Veteran Pitcher Luke Adams became the fifth Titans player to commit to Genesee in club history and the first from the Class of 2025 to commit to Coach Sherman and the Cougars. The resident of Midland will join a procession of Titans Baseball Club graduates, including First Baseman/Outfielder Matt Keizer and Second Baseman/RHP Saunders Mireault, who played for the Western New York school over the last two seasons. Two other Titans grads-- Outfielders Tarek Emara and Luke Gelinas --transferred from the St. Xavier University Cougars in Illinois to Genesee in 2024-25 so there is quite a Canadian contingent donning the distinctive blue and gold uniform of the Genesee Cougars.
As a coach with both Genesee CC and the Titans, Denis Bailey is in a unique position to offer insights into Adams’s prospective role with the NCAA Cougars: “Luke is an intriguing arm. He mixes well and sits in the mid-80’s. I still believe there is more in the tank. Having Luke come down and play for me at Genesee is truly a testament to his work ethic. He’s a grinder and gives max effort to everything he does.”
The two-time Titans Pitcher of the Year was impressed by Genesee’s program during a pair of campus visits and outlined the reasons for his decision to study and play baseball in Batavia, New York: “I committed to Genesee because I think the coaches there are very committed to developing and helping their players move on. I also had a great experience visiting the campus on our College Trip in the Fall and visiting a few weeks after with my mom.”
The Honor Roll graduate of St. Theresa’s Catholic High School in Midland is looking forward to “living the JUCO lifestyle, grinding everyday with some of your best friends, and working with coaches and teachers who are dedicated to helping me. I’ll be studying Physical Education at Genesee, and hope to use that to transfer to an exercise science program after. My athletic goals are to contribute as much as I can as a player and a teammate to help the team win and help everyone around me be the best they can be. Academically, I hope to maintain the good grades I had in high school and use that to transfer to a 4-year program.”
Adams thanked the Titans Baseball Club and specifically Head Coach Jesse Barker for “helping me develop the last four years into a better baseball player and a more confident person. Specifically, Coach Barks helped me regain my confidence last season and convinced me to come back and keep pursuing college baseball instead of going to a Canadian university.”
The future Genesee Cougar described the high point of his Titans career over the last four years: “The highlights of my Titans career have been winning Pitcher of the Year twice, as well as being able to play and travel with some of my best friends.”
He offered this timely advice to the younger Titans about achieving post-secondary goals as a student-athlete: “My advice to the younger players in our program would be to get your extra work in. If you’re only going to team practice, you’re never going to get ahead or catch up with other players.”
The Titans Baseball Club extends its hearty congratulations to Luke Adams for his commitment to the Genesee Community College Cougars. We look forward to Luke’s stellar work on the mound in the Spring for the 18U Titans in his final CPBL season and to his pitching and academic accomplishments as a Cougar in the NJCAA in the Fall.
